Boxy unisex vest in a black checked Kelsch linen blend fabric. Kelsch fabrics were initially hand-woven by rural farmer families and the different patterns of this traditional fabric represented the respective family affiliation. Nowadays this cultural gift has almost been forgotten, and there are only a few weaving mills left in the Alsace region. This fabric was custom developed with the weaver, undyed wool has been added to give the fabric a bit more of a coarse hand, as well as adding warmth.

Stand collar, front button fastening. Features a fine dart on top of the shoulder that create shape and brings the collar closer to the neck. Two horizontal darts in the natural waist area create a slightly curved and baggy shape. Fully lined single button patch pockets and two internal pockets. Regular fit.

Each garment comes as part of a hand-numbered edition.

Unkruid is a collaborative project that was founded in Antwerp in 2023, Every shape, finish and pattern is researched in-house. Materials are sourced from artisan textile mills and sometimes developed in collaboration with them. An important part ofUnkruid’sfabric research focuses on the process of ageing through wear and washing. Their design philosophy and fabric selection celebrates nostalgic pastoral sentiments as well as contemporary technical sensibilities.
