Shimazome is a new original fabric from A&S. It is hand-dyed using an adaptation of traditional dyeing techniques from Amami shima, known for its dorozome (mud dyeing), and was born from our pursuit of new and distinctive colors. The name, meaning island dyeing, expresses our hope that, like Shimautathe folk songs passed down through the islands of the Nansei archipelagothis dyeing method will be cherished and passed on for generations to come.
